what the clit project means to me

we have been devoloping the clitbags in collaboration with sexual health, switzerland as part of the masturbation campaign. i was not very inspired to speak about the clitbag project, until my mentor, ruth, reminded me on how proud i've been of this project. the clitproject is what friskyness emerged in with frisky clitbags. those are style black and white, handbatticed cotton jutebags handmade in by our community in Ghana. There is a big white clit on the black bag. Which says to me, it’s obvious that we have a clit. It’s obvious that we can use that particular organ to feel pleasure. We have the power, we have the Gift, to feel pleasure - If we make use out of it. That is basically how i want to live my life. I want to use my power, my Gift to create pleasure. (Is that really true? Yes, actually I love, making people feel happy. I always try my best - also to make others feel comfortable.

All while knowing, that my pleasure is equally important and POSSIBLE. I do not need to step back, I have the power, to feel pleasure and to touch upon that pleasure, basically anytime I want to.

Clitbags should encourage one another to do you. And to enjoy yourself doing you. We all have the power to enjoy ourselves, so why not use it?

Masturbation for me, personally, as been a great way of exploring the me, what i like and what i don’t like. i do not need to keep you in my bed, if you do not do me well. If you’re not serving me, you’re out. Through Masturbation I feel like I learn to serve myself: I speak the same language with myself, a language that is listening, that is learning to understand all parts of me. Because when I masturbate often a lot of truth goes through my mind. I listen to that and learn to understand.

Creating those Bags was also understanding. Understanding that it’s difficult to produce with natural colors and ecofriendly fabrics in Ghana, more indepth understanding of how battic works, where it came from, how it has been used and why in the first place. I sat down with Madame Julie and heard her story, a story of emancipating herself financially and how her hustle has been so far. We talked about the Clit, the shape and the way we want to see it. Not so much why the clit and what masturbation feels like to me because I felt too shy, too blocked by norms of not talking about her, the wonderful clit. And I trusted that the symbol is enough. I do not always need to put myself in the position of talking about it, especially when I do not feel comfortable to do so.

i do not always need to name it: a big fat clit under my arm, black and white is enough.

I wish to see a lot of women and men walk around with the clit. As a symbol of showing: Black on white, it’s a fact. The clit exists and we accept her. The clit exists and we accept her potential - the fact that we are able and allowed to feel pleasure.
